Surrender

2013 Surrender Oil on Linen 30×80

The concept of surrendering unto God seemed so large and grand that it felt like taking a step off a cliff and trusting that God (or Spirit) would be there to support me.  I had trouble believing that was possible, believing he would be there for me under those circumstances.  The shift that occurred inside of me was understanding that each moment in life is an opportunity to trust that God has my back and is always working with me for my highest good.  The lines of color in this painting represent the human experience that we all have each day. The white stokes of paint that make up the word surrender represent Spirit/God. The reality is that there is no difference between these two strokes.  We choose to give the color stokes meaning when, in my understanding, they are all just opportunities to trust and come back into the loving, surrendering in that moment to Spirit.
